about

When I first moved to Oregon, I was astounded by the immense beauty this place contains. In Eugene, I’m only hours away from National Forests, the Oregon coast, volcanic wastelands, and majestic Redwoods. Most Oregonians I meet enjoy these places frequently and they truly appreciate the natural areas nearby. I was also astounded at how Oregonians strive daily to protect these places by reducing their carbon footprint, by recycling and reusing, eating local food, and otherwise keeping their lives and travel sustainable.

My Oregonophony field recordings feature the rhythmic and often lilting sounds of biking, walking, and bussing. In the first movement, you’ll hear my melodic interpretations of a bicycle’s gears shifting, pedaling, and the well-earned relief of coasting after a long uphill. In the second movement, you will hear the rhythmic ostinato of a walk through a neighborhood, with a bit of a sassy and groovy twist. The third movement is my musical interpretation of a bus ride-- the rattling, the ease of gigantic wheels turning, the shifting of a massive transmission, the beeping of bells and whistles at stops, and finally the chatter of the people on the bus as they board and as they exit and thank the driver.
